What does this role look like?
As a Manufacturing Engineer doing technical writing, you will play a key role in producing and maintaining technical documentation for Lockheed Martin. These documents include standard operating procedures, maintenance procedures for electronic and mechanical support equipment, and work instructions ensuring that they comply with technical specifications and fit the user’s needs. The documents detail processes and products involved in performing specific maintenance or military tasks. Manufacturing Engineers are the cornerstone between mechanical, electrical, industrial, and systems engineers and the field personnel, operations, safety, logistics, and mechanics using our documentation.
In this role, you will use problem solving skills to assess dynamic operational and technical changes for Technical Documentation which includes Ordnance Documents (OD), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Ordnance Pamphlets (OP), Standard Maintenance Procedures (SMP), and Work Instructions (WI).
In this role will offer you the following daily key responsibilities:
• You will problem solve and provide solutions to a variety of technical problems while following and maintaining requirements.
• You must be a self-starter and be able to work under general guidance. Work completion will be reviewed for soundness of technical judgement and overall accuracy.
• You must be a good facilitator and have good interpersonal skills to work with a diverse team of US Navy personnel, engineers, technicians, and fellow manufacturing engineers to reconcile organizational needs within documentation.
• You must be able to understand a wide array of technical data related to the D5 TRIDENT II SWS.
• You will perform technical review of documentation against source data.
• You will provide procedural support for SWS facility documentation proofing and activation.
• You will reconcile procedures with electrical and mechanical engineering drawings, resolve discrepancies with cognizant individuals and groups.
• You must review and verify documents for completeness, format, and compliance with contract requirements.
Although this position does support some teleworking; the preferred candidate will be located near our Lockheed Martin Space facility in Cape Canaveral, FL. , and be expected to work in the office as needed
Basic Qualifications
To be effective, you will need to possess these basic qualifications:
• Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education;
• 2+ years of professional experience;
• Proficient with Windows, Microsoft Office Suite, and PDF editing tools;
• Ability to adapt to a variety of software platforms;
• Ability to travel occasionally;
• You will need to be a US Citizen, and be able to obtain and maintain a US DoD TOP SECRET clearance, to support this government contract, as well as successfully pass a drug and background check, in order to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

Work Schedule Information
Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Security Clearance Information
This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.
