BAE Systems

Job Description

Job Description:
BAE Systems is seeking an experienced team leader for an exciting opportunity to support the Air Force’s acquisition of the next generation Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) weapon system, known as the Sentinel ICBM Program.

The Sentinel Program (formerly known as GBSD) is an enormous and complex “Mega-Project” replacing the entire ICBM weapon system deployed across tens of thousands of square miles in five states. Without a doubt, Sentinel is one of the Department of Defense’s (DoD’s) most important acquisition efforts for the next decade. It includes a complete refurbishment or replacement of more than five hundred aging Minuteman III ICBM facilities to secure and support a newly designed, technologically-advanced ballistic missile. It will also provide an entirely new command & control system (including an updated airborne launch capability) as well as vast array of required support equipment specifically engineered to operate and sustain the new weapon system over the next 4-5 decades.  This is a long-term project with the weapon system anticipated to deploy over a nine-year period beginning in the late 2020s and remaining operational until at least 2075.

Job Description:
This position will directly support the Sentinel Program’s Command & Launch (C&L) Branch as they acquire the weapon system command & control capabilities for the next generation ICBM.  Duties of the Comms/OC2 Section lead include providing expert advice and support to Sentinel program leaders throughout the acquisition cycle.  Areas of responsibility that fall under the Comms/OC2 Section include:

  • Execution Network (e.g., Nuclear Command & Control (NC2) communications systems).

  • Non-execution network (communications networks supporting missile field maintainers and security forces).

  • Operational Command & Control hardware (e.g. user access terminals, tailored leadership picture, force status, etc.).

Specifically, this team leader will be responsible for effectively managing a team of direct-report engineers and project managers who directly support the Air Force customer in evaluating the Sentinel prime contractor’s Comms/OC2 design.  This experienced team leader must have exceptional attention-to-detail skills and a demonstrated ability to drive team performance through coaching, mentoring, and training.

Pursuant to Government contract, this position requires US Citizenship status.
