This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies. Applications will not be accepted through this flyer. Interested applicants must follow the directions in the “How to Apply” section of this flyer to be considered. There may or may not be actual vacancies filled from this flyer. In lieu of the specialized experience listed in the Qualifications section, applicants may qualify based on education OR equivalent combination of experience and education as follows:

  • Successfully completed a master’s degree or equivalent graduate degree OR
  • Successfully completed two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master’s degree or equivalent graduate degree OR
  • Have a combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience. My percentage of the required education plus my percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.

Note: Undergraduate or Graduate Education: Degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.

All academic degrees and coursework must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions.

I have one year of information technology related experience in the federal service or private or public sector demonstrating the following four competencies, as defined:

1. Attention to Detail – Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency must include: Reviewing my own information technology-related work or data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency with standards.

2. Customer Service – Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency must include: Diagnosing application software problems in response to customer reported incidents.

3. Oral Communication – Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency must include: Briefing senior leaders on new database technologies and architectures.

4. Problem Solving – Identifies customer difficulties; plan, coordinate, entry, ordering, and managing of data and telecom information; generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency must include: Investigating existing information technology (IT) systems with customers to identify potential issues.

In addition to my experience demonstrating the four competencies above, I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector: Providing customer service and technical assistance regarding equipment operation and maintenance; analyzing techniques to test equipment malfunctions and software issues; installing hardware and software on a variety of equipment; utilizing oral and written communication to provide guidance and training to customers.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
