ENGINEERING EQUIPMENT OPERATOR

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: The ability to perform common tasks including 1) Operating various types of heavy construction type equipment where power is transmitted through complicated shifting, hydraulic and steering controls; 2) Reading specifications, sketches, and grade stakes for the fine grading of surfaces; 3) Determining the nature of soil and features of different types of terrain to determine the proper approach to be used; 4) Communicating orally, sufficient to serve as lead worker on a project and/or to interface and coordinate with contract employees; 5) Understanding of all OSHA regulations regarding trench safety, such as using trench boxes, shoring, or sloping or benching techniques.
