We have an exciting opportunity for a Navigation Engineer in Poway, CA. 

As Navigation & Flight Sensors Engineer you will be a part of a team of skilled engineers responsible for designing, developing, analyzing, and maintaining navigation systems and other flight sensor equipment used in GA-ASI aircraft systems. This role requires an understanding of navigation (or adjacent ) technologies to ensure the success of critical aerospace projects.

DUITES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Work on the design, development, and testing of navigation systems, flight sensors, and avionics equipment for aircraft applications.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including sensor engineers, flight controls engineers, software developers, systems engineers, and advanced programs to integrate navigation systems seamlessly with aircraft systems.
  • Stay up-to-date with advancements in navigation and sensor technology by representing the company and participating in industry conferences.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation and improvement.
  • Conduct research and development projects to enhance navigation system capabilities.
  • Participate in bid and proposal activities.

Job Qualifications

 

  • Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; six or more years of experience with a bachelors degree, four or more years of experience with a masters degree, or two or more years with a PhD.  May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
  • Experience with navigation system integration in military unmanned aircraft.
  • Knowledge navigation data processing, Kalman filters, and fusion techniques.
  • In-depth knowledge of navigation technologies, aviation regulations, and safety standards.
  • Experience with air data systems, aircraft sensors, and embedded computing hardware.
  • Proficient in scripting languages such as Python is desirable.
  • Proficient in the use of Matlab and Simulink tools.
  • Experience with developing, implementing and testing visual navigation algorithms such as terrain image matching is strongly desired.
  • Experience with using radio frequency signals of opportunity as navigation aids and the associated design, integration and testing of associated algorithms and nav subsystem is strongly desired.
  • Experience with Software-In-The-Loop (SWIL) and Hardware-In-The-Loop (HWIL) simulation and testing is strongly desired.
  • Experience with implementing and testing autonomy, collaborative engagement, artificial intelligence, and machine learning algorithms is desired.
  • Experience with guidance and control algorithms, simulation models, hardware, and software is desired.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance is required.
