We are seeking a talented and driven Principal Software Engineer for a challenging development effort on BAE Systems Compass Call airborne tactical electronic attack program. The successful candidate will apply her/his skills to developing high-quality software for an important simulation system of fielded electronics platforms. In this role you may lead and/or mentor others in their software development efforts. You will work across multiple disciplines and collaborate with Systems, Hardware, Test Engineers, and others to impact all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle. You will interface with subcontractor software developers to develop product for a common goal.
You will be an integral part of a dynamic software development team performing analysis, design, implementation, and integration of primarily C++ based embedded software in a Linux development environment. Duties include integration of complex embedded software with target hardware. This includes working with the systems team, software team and hardware team to diagnose, debug, and test the systems under development.
This opening is at our Hudson campus.
This position is primarily an in-office position with opportunities to work from home part-time.

Required Skills and Education
- Top Secret with SCI clearance
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field, and minimum of 6 years work experience or equivalent experience
- Experience developing and integrating software for advanced radar countermeasures
- Advanced technical knowledge of modern C++ version 17 or newer and CMake
- Strong and current experience with some/all the following tools: ClearCase, Atlassian suite (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket), Git
- Experience developing and integrating on Linux (Red Hat 8 or newer)
- Experience with Agile development including experience leading scrums
- Experience with containers (Podman or Docker)
- Foundation in object-oriented design and implementation
- Software leadership experience
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong problem-solving and collaborative skills
Preferred Skills and Education
- Active CompTIA Security+ Certification
- Full life-cycle software development
- Proficiency in real-time embedded software development
- Background in embedded and/or application software development
- Experience with continuous integration, e.g. Jenkins
- Foundation in modern design and implementation principles
- Experience with software and systems engineering processes, methodologies, and tools
- Experience performing software testing, validation, and verification activities
