This role serves as an Employee Assistance Program Coordinator, responsible for managing the Coast Guard (USCG) Employee Assistance Program (EAP) in the following areas: Critical Incident Stress Management, Suicide Awareness/Prevention, Victim Witness Assistance, Violence in the Workplace, Rape and Sexual Assault, Red Cross Liaison, and Financial Competency Assistance programs plus a coordinated network of referral services and public awareness programs.

Typical work assignments include:

– Administering, planning, directing, managing, monitoring, educating, developing, implementing, marketing, evaluating, and training and consulting, on all aspects of the agency Employee Assistance Program throughout the assigned area of responsibility (AOR).
– Coordinating response efforts, measuring, reporting awareness, prevention, and intervention for programs such as Critical Incident Stress Management, Suicide Prevention, Victim Assistance Program, Violence in the Workplace, Rape and Sexual Assault and Financial Competency Assistance.
– Devising, planning, implementing, coordinating, arranging for marketing, and conducting workshops for military, civilian and family members addressing all aspects of EAP. 
– Preparing and submitting budget requirements for program operations.
– Developing and maintaining a wide-range network of resource providers and professionals who can assist with prevention, intervention, referrals, victim assistance, and delivery of services to Coast Guard military, civilian and family members.

To qualify at the GS-12, applicants must meet the Basic requirement of the position. The Basic Requirement of the position: A degree in behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position
OR
Combination of education and experience — that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
OR
Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
AND
In addition to the basic education requirements above, applicants must also possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level (in the Federal service). Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.  Examples of specialized experience include: Administering, planning, directing, managing, monitoring, educating, developing, implementing, marketing, evaluating, and training and consulting, on all aspects of the agency Employee Assistance Program; participating, coordinating, issuing measurement reports,  focus on awareness, prevention, informing and training members, employees, and families on services provided through EAP.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
