Join our team as a Battery Systems Engineer to work on a team supporting the US Navy’s Fleet Ballistic Missile (FBM) D5 Avionics Engineering.

Location: This position does not support teleworking; the preferred candidate will be located near our Lockheed Martin Space facility one of the Coolest places to work: Littleton COor Cape Canaveral FL, and be expected to work in the office.

What does this role look like?

As a Senior System Engineer, you will serve as a Certified Product Engineer (CPE) delegate for multiple FBM battery products. You will be supporting flight test operations, working closely with battery vendors, and participating in technical investigations.


Key activities you will accomplish in this role:

• Oversee the development and production of missile battery products
• Provide technical oversight for flight test operations
• Design disclosure preparation and release
• Detailed design
• Manufacturing process development and improvement
• Development testing and hardware qualification
• Discrepancy resolution
• Support to producibility, affordability, and obsolescence-driven re-designs
• Data Analysis
• Failure Investigation and Root Cause Corrective Action implementation


• 5+ years professional experience; 3+ years with Masters degree.
• While no clearance is needed to start in this position, you will need to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance, thus US Citizenship is required.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science or higher from an accredited college in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education.

• Prior product ownership experience.

• Experience with high-reliability electronics or batteries through the product lifecycle.

• Willing and able to obtain and maintain a DoD secret or higher clearance. US Citizenship is required.

Work Schedule Information

Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Security Clearance Information

This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.
