We have an exciting opportunity for a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our Mechanisms group in Poway, CA supporting the development, qualification, and sustainment of unmanned aircraft.
In this role, the Mechanical Engineer will collaborate with the engineering staff in the design, analysis (kinematic and structural), investigation, and solution of engineering problems related to aircraft mechanisms of flight controls, utility, and deployment systems. Such scope may include requirements derivation, design conceptualization, detail design, analysis, manufacturing support, test support, and sustaining support. Assignments are normally outlined in terms of overall objectives and reviewed largely at intermediate milestones.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Designs aircraft mechanisms interfacing flight controls, utility, and deployable equipment.
- Applies technical knowledge to analyze, investigate and resolve assigned engineering problems.
- Documents findings, communicates results to engineering staff, and makes technical presentations.
- May provide direction to design or technical staff.
- Supports the engineering staff in the analysis, investigation and resolution of engineering problems of moderate scope and complexity
- May support implementation and verification of mechanical solutions on aircraft during aircraft build and flight testing.
- Maintains the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Responsible for observing all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
- Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.

Job Qualifications
- Typically requires a bachelors or masters degree in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and two or more years of engineering experience with a bachelors degree. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
- Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly and apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment and organize work assignments to meet established timetables.
- Experience in Matlab or similar required
- Experience in Computer Aided Design applications required, NX and CREO desirable
- Experience in Finite Element Analysis required, ANSYS desirable.
- Understanding of aircraft subsystems including electric servos, motion and power mechanical transmission, and hydraulics desirable.
- Must be able to work both independently and on a team.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance is required.
