In Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) Systems, you’ll help develop systems that sense, control, exploit and disseminate actionable information to warfighters supporting a variety of missions.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced radiation assurance and packaging engineer to join our team in Manassas, VA. The ideal candidate should have a good understanding of radiation testing for space applications, radiation effects, space environments, PCB board design, package design, high frequency digital technologies, mixed signal IC technologies, and electrical testing of RF and digital circuits.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement radiation assurance plans and procedures for electronic packages and integrated circuits
  • Conduct radiation assurance testing, including total dose, single event effects, proton testing, and neutron testing
  • Calculate radiation error rates and determine the likelihood of radiation-induced failures
  • Write test code in various programming environments (python, matlab, etc)
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure radiation assurance requirements are met throughout the product development lifecycle
  • The role will be ensuring the radiation hardness and reliability of electronic systems and components used in space and defense applications. The engineer will develop and implement radiation test strategies, perform testing, analyze test results, and provide technical guidance to cross-functional teams.

Required Skills and Education

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field and 10+ years of experience.
  • Knowledge of radiation effects on materials and components.
  • Willingness to travel
  • Good understanding of electrical testing of digital circuits
  • Strong knowledge of radiation environments, including space radiation belts, solar flares, and nuclear environments.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Security clearance or the ability to get a security clearance is required

Preferred Skills and Education

  • Masters degree in Radiation Assurance Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field 
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in radiation assurance engineering, with a focus on space, nuclear, or defense applications.
  • Rapid learning curve
  • Familiarity with various laboratory radiation sources, such as protons, neutrons, and heavy ions.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of radiation safety protocols and regulations.
  • Experience with radiation testing equipment and software.
  • Strong understanding of electronics, circuit design, and system architecture.
  • Familiarity with radiation shielding and protection techniques.
