Job Description
BAE Systems is seeking a Major Projects Support Specialist to join our Programs and Major Projects team at Surface Combat Systems Center (SCSC) facility in Wallops Island, VA. The mission at SCSC includes Research and Development, Training, Fleet Emergent Testing, System Integration and hardware/software Certification. SCSC is located on a barrier island on the Eastern Shore of Virginia and is a tenant of the NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility. SCSC provides live combat systems suites with platform specific radars and sensors and supports the following functions: combat system lifetime support engineering, platform certification, operational and technical evaluation, combat system training, interoperability testing and participates in at-sea exercises. SCSC provides a high-fidelity representative combat system of every ship in the AEGIS, Ship Self Defense System (SSDS) fleet today and those planned in the future.
Duties include interfacing with potential mission customers, preparing and coordinating the plans and schedules in support of live SCSC fleet operations, integration of new combat system elements, multi-platform training missions, fleet emergent missions, activation of new baselines and equipment and development of new mission capabilities. Review potential mission test plans and initiate all the actions required to carry out missions from early planning through post-mission analysis. Technically interface and coordinate with all SCSC work areas including: Operations, Engineering, Readiness and Configuration Management. Preparing all required technical documentation to include Site Change Implementation Notices (SCIN) and the development of technical drawings for test set-ups. Develop estimates of man-hour and associated costs to carry out mission events, including analysis of effects of projects on overall site operation. Superintend the execution of all aspects of project missions, including participating in the actual execution of mission events. Work with Site Test Directors to ensure that all requirements are in place to carry out mission objectives. Coordinate and develop post-mission analysis, including distributing lessons learned to all stakeholders with an eye toward improvement of future project missions.

Minimum education and relevant/related years of experience required. High School (GED) and at least 4 years of experience in the implementation of projects of varying size and complexity. Experience in leadership and coordination of assets and services supporting technical operations and missions. Experience in managing, organizing and controlling project activities to include, generating, updating, monitoring and distributing documents (including Project Pre-planning, Execution, Scope and Project Plan), preparing financial budget and statistical reports.
This position requires the successful candidate to be able to obtain a Secret level clearance. The criteria for obtaining and holding a clearance are driven by US government requirements. You must be a US citizen to obtain a security clearance.
