Serve as the NASA Deputy Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer (CAIO). Leads NASA’s AI strategy, planning, policy, and governance. Provide direct support to the Chief AI and Data Officer on AI topics and develops AI implementation plans to maximize value while managing risks. Build cross-agency relationships; develop shared awareness; equip the workforce with tools and training; and assure responsible AI use. Advance the adoption of AI to bolster Mission effectiveness and create efficiencies. This job does not have an education qualification requirement. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
GS-15: To qualify at the GS-15 level, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level
- Applying advanced technical and policy knowledge in Artificial Intelligence or Machine Learning (AI/ML) for developing and implementing Artificial Intelligence (AI) strategies, governance boards, and policies;
- Developing and leading a multi-faceted program that represents a series of interrelated and interdependent initiatives that lead to innovative use of AI capabilities that improve operational effectiveness;
- Providing leadership and direction that inspire teamwork and collaboration between teams, working groups, and across an organization leading towards the accomplishment of AI objectives.
AND
IF you are qualifying based on experience, you MUST also have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below:

- Oral Communication – Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
- Problem Solving – Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
