To qualify for a Supply Technician, your qualifications must include:

A. Specialized Experience~ To qualify at the GS-06Ievel, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 level. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA’s) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. Examples of specialized experience are identified in the Major Duties section of this vacancy announcement and may also include:

  • Conducting physical inventories and location surveys
  • Investigating stock/record/material discrepancies impacting inventory balances
  • Preparing reports concerning results of investigations performed

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Physical Demands: In the performance of investigations, inventories and location surveys, the incumbent is required to research, survey and/or count all types of material, some which is heavy and bulky, stored on pallets, and some which is stored in high-level locations. Work may require operating MHE and handling, pushing and lifting items weighing op to 40 pounds and occasionally 70 pounds with assistance. Depending on availability of equipment and depot location, may occasionally operate a bicycle, sedan, or pick-up truck to move between work sites.

Work Environment: Work is performed both indoors and outdoors. The work environment involves moderate risks or discomforts which require special safety precautions, such as working around moving warehouse equipment, carts, or machines. Employees may be required to us protective clothing or gear such as masks, gowns, safety shoes, goggles, hearing protection, and gloves.
