Lockheed Martin’s SOF GLSS Team, the leading provider of a wide range of tailored logistics, maintenance and sustainment services is seeking an Aeronautical Sciences Engineer to join the SOF GLSS team in Lexington, KY. The candidate will perform classified duties supporting multiple Special Operations groups.

What You Will Be Doing

As the Aeronautical Sciences Engineer your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
• Perform modifications of military aircraft (both rotary- and fixed-wing) and ground vehicles to meet evolving operational needs
• Support the customer with a quick turnaround of added capabilities to existing platforms
• Ensure a quality solution that meets all defined airworthiness requirements
• Perform analysis including stress, loads, vibration, fatigue and fracture, thermal, and aerodynamic throughout the entire process from initial design to final delivery and production support
• Proposal work, develop and track schedules and budgets
• Present results to the team and customer at events like PDR and CDR
• Collaborate with other disciplines
• Ensure technical and non-technical results in support of overall organization objectives and customer requirements

Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Aeronautical Sciences or related field
• Experience with military aircraft and ground vehicle modifications
• Familiarity with analysis methods and design processes
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Experience with airworthiness requirements
• Familiarity with proposal work and schedule and budget management.

MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN – This position is in direct support of a U.S. government contract that requires a company-sponsored clearance to start.

Basic Qualifications

• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Experience with a Finite Element Modeling (FEM) creation using ANSYS, FEMAP, NASTRAN or similar programs
• Strong knowledge and experience in classical stress analysis methods (hand calculations)
• Demonstrated performance in a fast paced environment
• Skilled in presenting designs & analyses to customers to get approval that the design meets all static structural, dynamic structural, thermal, and aerodynamic requirements.
• Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 5 years of professional experience; or 3 years of professional experience with a related Masters degree.

Work Schedule Information

Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
