Air Education and Training Command

Advises and assists the Global College of Professional Military Education (GCPME) Dean in leading the faculty to professionally develop and teach high-quality, relevant curriculum; in addition to offering academic expertise around distance learning and accreditation. Under the supervision of the GCPME Dean, operates according to guidance, policies and expectations established in AF, AU and GCPME instructions. Serves as 1st level supervisor for both military and civilian (GS or AD) employees. An earned doctorate in education, instructional design, or security studies related field such as political science, international relations, history, leadership, or war studies.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.   • From the direction of the Dean: Provides leadership and advisement on and teaches Professional Military Education (PME) topics and instructional design and technology integration best practices for distance learning program courses in support of GCPME’s mission.
  • Advises on regional and military accreditation standards and compliances and oversees outcomes based military education.
  • Establishes and maintains professional partnerships and relationships with academic and professional colleagues and supports internal and external awareness with Air University, other DoD schools and organizations, civilian institutions, and businesses related to distance learning.
  • Performs administrative support functions and special projects, as directed, to include service on internal or external committees.

  • Board knowledge and wide range of experience with instructional design, education technology, theories of learning, leadership, strategy, security studies, joint warfighting, or related topics.
  • Broad knowledge of both the military and academic cultures, and knowledge and skills integrating technology in support of Professional Military Education delivery.
  • Broad knowledge of the requirements of teaching effectively and demonstrated ability to teach in a highly creative and dynamic academic environment, and ability to communicate effectively both orally and written with a wide range and diverse group of people.
  • Knowledge of scholarly research methods and ability to conduct inquiry and publish in professional journals or books.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and mentor, motivate, and apprise the staff of an organization.
  • Knowledge of health, safety, security, personnel management, and EEO regulations, practices, and procedures.
