Operational Medicine Program Specialist

This position is located in the US Department of Justice (DOJ), Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Office of Training (TR), Operations Training Section (TRO), and is responsible for program specialist support to the DEA Operational Medicine Program (TROM). Education requirements do not apply to this vacancy announcement.
As a Operational Medicine Program Specialist, your typical work assignments may include:

• Assessing validity of medical training developments and techniques by researching industry standards and maintaining relationships with operational medicine-related companies, organizations, and associations.
• Ensuring compliance by members in adhering to all program facets, to include treatment protocols, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) compliance, and patient care reports.
• Assessing and considering evolving programmatic needs and overall available budget in order to establish and disseminate annual program training schedules and updates.
• Preparing and delivering medical training modules and courses.
• Interfacing with emergency medicine credentialing agencies, physicians, and professional organizations, as well as fellow law enforcement agency and military services manager counterparts.

Applicants applying for the GS-13 must meet the following requirements:

Have at least one full year of qualifying specialized experience that is at least equivalent in difficulty and complexity to work performed at the GS-12 grade level. Specialized experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Supporting an organization with all its operational medicine program (e.g. training, policies, operational needs, contracts); 2) Maintaining the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technician’s standards for the organization; 3) Serving as an expert developing trainings, educational requirements; new medical trends in regard to operational medicine program.
